Wholesome Book Suggestions

From An Avid Reader

Have you ever struggled to find a good, clean book to read? Well, struggle no more! I am an avid reader. I literally read five books a week. Here on this page I will write a list of all my favorite books! I will also post what age they are more appropriate for.  I will post books for older girls ranging (14-20's or older) & I will post books for (7-13yrs)

Author: Erynn Mangum (15yrs+Up)

Mangum is a new author in her 20's. She is my top favorite author. She writes amazing work. Her books are hilarious. You will literally laugh out loud. They are also Christian books. I highly reccomend her books. The author's personality comes out in all of her books. Her main characters are usually addicted to coffee, romantic, a little on the nutsy side, chocoholics, romantic comedy lovers, & more! I gurantee that you will love these books as much as I did!

 Lauren Hollbrook Series

Lauren Holbrook is 23, single, lives at home with her hypochrondriac dad and has two bad habits: Consuming her body weight in coffee and “subtly” guiding unsuspecting singles into marital bliss. Her newest project? Her clueless singles’ pastor and her Slim-Fast munching coworker.

Lauren's dad may be getting remarried—and Lauren is still looking for the love of her life! Join Lauren on her adventure of caffeine, chocolate, girl talk, and spiritual insights as she continues to search for the right match.

She didn’t even see it coming... Lauren Holbrook has officially matched four couples and is feeling pretty content. Until the tables are turned and suddenly her friends are matchmaking her!

Maya Davis Series

Everything seems to be going perfectly for Maya Davis – she’s got a good job at a coffee shop, loving parents and is happily single. At least until her best friend unknowingly starts dating Maya’s high school sweetheart, her annoyingly perfect brother moves back to town and her coworker starts showing interest in her. Apparently God’s will for her is to spend her days commiserating over ice cream – or does He have more to teach her?

SPOILER ALERT: Don't read the next two if you don't want spoilers

When Maya Davis’ ex-boyfriend proposes to her roommate, Jen, their apartment becomes Wedding Central. As if that weren’t awful enough, Jen’s obnoxious mom moves in to help with the planning! And what is going on with Jack?

Now that Maya Davis is engaged to her longtime friend and sweetheart, Jack, there should be no more worrying about the future, no more questioning God. Everything should be perfect, right? Actually, it’s just the opposite: Things are complicated. Where are they going to live? What kind of wedding do they want? And when Jack gets a job offer in Seattle, things get even crazier. What does God have planned for Maya in even the unexpected?

Paige Torn Series

Paige is the girl who can’t say “no” – at least when it comes to seemingly good things like volunteering at her church and helping her best friend plan an anniversary party. But is there a point where too much of a good thing is just too much?

Paige Alder is in a really good place. She’s dating nice guy Tyler. Her boss has offered her a raise. Her walk with God is strong. Life is great—and that’s when things start to change. How is Paige supposed to know what the right decisions are?

Author: Robin Jones Gunn (All of her books have a different age range)

She has been one of my favorite authors for a long time. The majority of my favorite quotes come from her. These books teach you to wait for the right guy, & they follow Christy through highschool, college, and married life. The author is currently writing a book about Christy's married life. These books were written in the 80's and are still very popular today. These are the books that I've gotten all my friends to read. They absolutely love them!
(Below ~14yrs & up, These books are also read my adults, they're that good!)
(The Christy Miller Series consists of 4 volumes & is later followed by "The College Years")

Fourteen-year-old Christy Miller has the dream summer ahead of her in sun-kissed California, staying with her aunt and uncle at their beachfront home. Aunt Marti loves to shop, and those surfers are cute—especially Todd. Christy promised her parents she wouldn’t do anything she’d regret later, and some of her beach friends are a little wild. But Todd and his “God-Lover” friends are giving Christy a new image of all things eternal. Can this summer live up to its promise?

Sierra is one of Christy's friends. I didn't enjoy these books as much. They come after the Christy Series. If you have a 10-13 yr old, let them read the Sierra Series first and then read Christy when they're older. My younger sister did that & she loves Sierra way more than I did.

Summary of first book:

The Europe mission trip brought Sierra Jensen the best gift possible: two new friends, Katie and Christy. But now Sierra is headed home, and she can’t help but wonder will her friendships last? And what about her new home? Her family moved while she was gone, and that means facing a new high school. And the biggest question of all: Will she ever find love? Then a chance meeting in a London airport answers that question. Paul makes her heart leap. But she’ll never see him again! Or will she?

The Katie Weldon Series comes after you've read all of the other books (Christy Series, Sierra Series, College Series). These books are for older teens & young adults. Katie is Christy's wacky, abnormal, best friend. I loved these books. They are funny & completely applicable to life. They keep you on the edge of your seat.

The first book in Katie Weldon Series, Peculiar Treasures picks up just minutes after the end of Christy and Todd: The College Years. Katie catches more than the bouquet at Todd and Christy’s wedding. She catches a case of senioritis, which she’s working hard to stave off, in addition to unexpected changes that keep her off balance. But one thing that’s not changing is her relationship with Rick. They’re living in the slow lane, and Katie wonders what will it take to convince him to make the eagerly anticipated lane change that will speed up the progress of their relationship.

This book is amazing! It's non-fiction & it talks about Gunn's personal love story. It really is wise to pray for your future husband.
Will it really make a difference if you pray for your future husband … even before you’ve met him? There’s only one way to find out. Start praying! This book will encourage you to do just that and give you everything you need to get started.

Author: Melody Carlson(Her books are for 13&Up)

I love her writing. She doesn't sugar coat the teenage life. She tells it how it is. Her books are the real deal. Some of her books can be hard to read because the situations are very hard, so when you read her books use discretion. Obviously her books about suicide, etc. should be only read by older teens.

Diary Of A Teenage Girl Series:

Sixteen-year-old Caitlin O'Conner reveals the inner workings of a girl caught between childhood and womanhood ... an empty life without Christ and a meaningful one with Him. Through Caitlin's candid journal entries we see her grapple with such universal teen issues as peer pressure, loyalty, conflict with parents, the longing for a boyfriend, and her own spirituality. Readers will laugh and cry with Caitlin as she struggles toward self-discovery and understanding God's plan for her life. And they'll be deeply moved by her surprising commitment regarding dating.
